Block Island Harbor of Refuge Maintenance Dredging, Block Island, Rhode Island The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is issuing an Invitation for Bids for the Maintenance Dredging of the Block Island Harbor of Refuge Federal Navigation Project, located on Block Island (New Shoreham), Rhode Island. This procurement is set aside for small business concerns. The NAICS code for the work is 237990. Dredging operations are expected to take 3 to 4 months to complete and shall occur between October 1 and January 31 during the years dredging is performed, to minimize impact to natural resources in the area. The estimated construction cost is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Any responsible source meeting this standard may submit a bid to be considered by the New England District. The location of work to be performed under this contract shall be within the Congressionally-authorized Block Island Harbor of Refuge Federal Navigation Project, located on Block Island, Rhode Island. Approximately 48,000 cubic yards (CY) of sandy and silty sediment will be dredged from the Inner Channel, Basin, and Anchorage which are all authorized to a depth of 15-ft below Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW). The sandy dredge material (approximately 31,000 CY) will be transported by scow and placed at a nearshore placement site adjacent to Crescent Beach, north of the harbor. The remaining 17,000 CY of material is silty and will be disposed of at the Rhode Island Sound Disposal Site. It is expected that the dredging contractor will need to maintain a dredging production rate of 20,000 CY per month to be successful in performing the work of this contract.
