The reasons this brand is required is that the identical unit must be used to avoid: Unacceptable operational speed due to difference in gear ratio, additional costs to modify the engine foundation so that the transmission can be mounted and aligned to the propeller shaft coupling, additional costs to modify the port transmission control system and add a new control system for the different brand starboard transmission, additional costs to modify the electrical, mechanical and fuel systems due to engine foundation, modifications and different brand transmission cooling system requirements, additional costs associated with maintaining two different brand transmissions (i.e. - two service calls to authorized service representatives for transmission maintenance instead of one service call). The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price commercial supply contract to Lakey Inc. of Texas. (CAGE 7X6M3). The contract will be to furnish and deliver one new Twin Disc marine transmission, complete with accessories. The supplies shall be provided to the (USACE, 7400 Leake Avenue, New Orleans, LA, Wheeler's Receiving Office) in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW). The anticipated delivery date is (21) twenty-one days after date of award.
