Acquisition Background: Kentucky Lock is a high lift navigation lock on the Tennessee River at mile 22.4 in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. The culvert valves located on the ends of the lock chamber are operated by using an electric motor connected to a combination of gear reducers, which in turn allow additional gate machinery to lift the culvert valves open and closed. Four of the lock's low-speed gear reducers are original equipment of 1940s vintage and in need of replacement. Description of Minimum Needs for the Requirement: This procurement action is for a firm fixed-price supply contract for the furnishing all equipment, labor, materials, and transportation required for the fabrication and delivery of a new Kentucky Lock culvert valve low speed gearbox and other miscellaneous items as described in the specifications and contract drawings. Installation shall be performed by others.
