This is not a solicitation. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this survey. An archaeological survey is required to determine the presence of archaeological deposits and sites within an area proposed for laydown use in association with the construction of Chickamauga Lock and Dam, Tennessee River at river mile 471. The proposed laydown area encompasses approximately 7.65 acres near the confluence of Chickamauga Creek and the Tennessee River. The archaeological investigations shall target the surface stratigraphy where use impacts are expected. In addition, the investigations shall also include an auger sampling program to characterize subsurface stratigraphy and the potential for deeply buried deposits. Services are requested to complete background research, field investigations, artifact processing, and draft and final reports. Period of performance is expected to run 9 months. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, is conducting market research to get an idea of what industry is currently pricing for archaeological services.
