Synopsis: PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Nashville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) anticipates a firm fixed price construction contract for the Sewer Line Replacement in Kuttawa, Kentucky. Work includes the removal and replacement of a sewer line ~600' long. This requires trench excavation with in place protection of a roadway parallel to the sewer line and in place protection of a CMP that runs under the existing sewer line. The removal of the existing sewer line, placement of an 8" HDPE DR11 pipe with butt-fusion welding, the replacement of three manholes (two with waterproof covers), thrust anchors and blocks to secure HDPE, connection to the existing city sewer line, disposal of removed pipe, minor concrete placement, asphalt and concrete demolition and replacement at two asphalt road crossings, granular backfill placement and compaction, in-situ material backfilling, seeding and mulching, rip rap and filter fabric placement, and any other incidental related work including survey of final pipe network and environmental protection. It is anticipated that the Contractor will only encounter soil during trenching operations. No rock is anticipated. Due to tight budget constraints, the project is broken into an option to be awarded pending on Contractor bids and funding availability. The option includes the renovation of an existing restroom facility. This renovation includes a new sewer line to be tied into an existing city manhole located ~20 feet from the restroom facility, placing all new water and sewer lines above grade within the facility, removal of the sinks, toilets, and a urinal for the government to pick up, placing a new cleanout box along the sewer line near the manhole, and repainting the restrooms. New sinks, toilets, a urinal, and water heaters shall be furnished by the Contractor as specified in the sections to follow. The painting shall be done in accordance with the painting specification. This renovation also includes a new electrical box that shall be provided and installed by the Contractor. The new water heaters shall be wired to the electrical box by the Contractor. The Contractor shall provide the necessary plant, labor, materials, equipment, and transportation. This is a Pre-solicitation Notice. This Notice is being issued for planning and informational purposes only. This notice is not a solicitation, nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government will not pay for any effort expended in responding to this notice, nor will the Government accept proposals as a result of this Notice. The plans and technical specifications for this requirement will only be available upon solicitation issuance.
