REQUEST FOR INFORMATION The Government is issuing this Request for Information to determine a competitive basis. This is not a solicitation. This questionnaire is for market research purposes only. Only contractors capable of performing this type of work should respond to this Request for Information. Requirement: Cheatham Lock, Nickajack Lock and Wilson Lock Stoplog Liners Supply Contract Cheatham Lock, Nickajack Lock and Wilson Lock Stoplog Liners Supply Contract Scope of Work This work involves structural fabrication of steel structures called slot liners and slot fillers. Slot liners are vertical welded structures installed inside lock walls that allow temporary damming structures to be placed across the lock chamber. Slot fillers are box-like welded steel structures that are filled with concrete and are placed in the opening of the slot liners during normal lock operations. The contract requires fabrication of two slot liners and two fillers for Cheatham Lock and Nickajack Lock, and two slot liners for Wilson Lock, for a total of six slot liners and four slot fillers. The slot liners are approximately 27’ tall and weigh approximately 14,700 lbs. The slot fillers are approximately 8’ tall and weigh approximately 16,000 lbs., including the weight of concrete. After fabrication, the structures are required to be blasted to white metal (SSPC SP 5) and painted with the 23-A-Z moisture cure urethane paint system. The fabricator will deliver the slot liners and slot fillers to their designated project (Cheatham Lock located in Ashland City, TN - Nickajack Lock located in Jasper, TN - Wilson Lock located in Florence, AL). The Cheatham stoplog slot liners and fillers are to be delivered first, no later than March 31, 2021. The fabricator is required to have one of the following AISC certifications at the time of bidding and throughout the contract period of performance: AISC Certified Metal Hydraulic Fabricator (HYD) ASIC Certified Bridge Fabricator – Simple (SBR) ASIC Certified Bridge Fabricator – Intermediate (IBR) AISC Certified Bridge Fabricator – Advanced (ABR) AISC Certified Building Fabricator/Erector (BU) Welding is required to be performed in accordance with the American Welding Society requirements specified in AWS D1.1. Welders and welding operators shall be qualified appropriately. Welding Procedure Specifications shall be qualified and adhered to. A weld tracking log shall be developed and adhered to. Inspection and Testing shall be performed by appropriately qualified individuals. Additionally, the structures are required to be coated by a qualified painting contractor possessing the appropriate SSPC (QP1, QP2, QP3) certificate or AISC Certification for Sophisticated Paint Endorsement (SP1, SP2, SP3). Qualified paint applicators are also required.
