The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), St. Paul District (MVP) has a requirement to install sheet pile at Lock and Dam 8 (LD8). This project will create an auxiliary lock bay closure of LD 8 upstream of the existing auxiliary miter gates. The closure will serve as a new damming surface for the structure. The new closure will consist of two parallel rows of sheet pile secured with tie-rods with granular material filled in the space between the sheets. Permeation grouting will be performed for seepage control measures. Timber fenders will be attached to the upstream face of the closure, and an access ladder will be installed as part of the project work. LD8 is located near Genoa, WI (Vernon County), and is accessible from Wisconsin State Highway 35. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this action is 237990; Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction with a small business size standard of $39.5M. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000; the contract will require 100% performance and payment bonds.
