Equipment Flexible Power Cable Flexible power cable shall have a minimum continuous safe tension of 500 lbf. The cable shall contain three size AWG No. 2/0 power and three size AWG No. 6 ground type conductors in the safety yellow colored neoprene jacket. The neoprene material shall be resistant to heavy abrasion, impact, flame, oils, acids, alkalis, ultraviolet deterioration, and water. The cable shall be designed to withstand constant flexing and twisting in outdoor temperatures from -30oF to +110oF at a minimum bend radius of 6 times the cable outside diameter for a minimum of 150,000 cycles. The dual neoprene jacket shall be extruded into the interstices of the conductor assembly to assure high torsional resistance. The individually rope-lay-stranded copper conductors shall have a minimum conductor lay of 10 times the outside diameter of the cable in accordance with ATM B173: Class H and rated for a minimum of 600 volts-AC and 215 amperes at 90oC. Individual conductors shall be coded for permanent identification in accordance with NEMA WC 70. The cables shall meet or exceed the electrical and physical requirements of ASTM D 1523 and UL 1581. Lock and Dam 9 The power cable for Lock and Dam 9 shall meet the specifications outlined above and be a total continuous length of 572 feet. Spare Cable The spare power cable that will be inventoried at the Lock & Dam 5A Warehouse shall meet the specifications outlined above and be a total continuous length of 1,260 feet.
