The Memphis District USACE has a requirement for three (3) hydraulic-driven double drum waterfall winches with diesel-hydraulic power unit systems for the Mat Loading Unit (MLU). The winches need to be suitable for operation in a marine environment, with features comparable to those of AMClyde Frame 8 two-drum winch system. The winches should also be able to hold 1000 feet of 1-1/8 inch cable on upper and lower drums and between 6,000-8,000 lb. anchors on the starboard and port sides of the barge. The current winches on the MLU are over 30 years old. One winch is inoperative and finding parts for older winches are difficult because they are obsolete.
