The awarded contractor will refurbish up to 2 sets of thrust bearing shoes for McNary Dam units 13 and 14. The stationary portion of the English Electric bearing consists of 12 steel-backed babbitt segments or shoes which are each supported on jackscrews. The I.D. of the thrust shoes is 50 inches and the O.D., of the shoes is 128 inches. The overall shoe thickness is 9.5 inches including a babbitt layer of approximately 0.125 inch and 14 longitudinal grooves across the pad, parallel to the centerline of the pad, 0.0625" deep. Each shoe, with Babbitt, is estimated at 2,000 lbs. each, or 24,000 lbs. for the entire set. The awarded contractor will also refurbish Dworshak Dam unit 2 and unit 3 generator guide bearings. The unit 2 generator guide bearing is a pad-type bearing consisting of 18 shoes with a diameter of 67 inches. The segments are approximately 13 inches by 8 inches by 6 inches and weighs approximately 1,764 pounds for the set. The unit 3 generator guide bearing is a pad-type bearing consisting of 24 shoes with a diameter of 95 inches. The segments are approximately 13 inches by 8 inches by 7 inches and weighs approximately 2,646 pounds. The Babbitt for all bearings is a tin alloy base material.
