Advance Notice: Maintenance Dredging of Newark Bay
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes maintenance dredging of Newark Bay, New Jersey, removing approximately 300,000 cubic yards of silt and clay from critical shoals to depths of -40 and -50 feet. Work must use a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket, with multiple barges and tugboats, and all dredged material must be placed at a contractor-furnished, state-permitted upland site. The contractor must commence work within five calendar days of the Notice-to-Proceed and maintain a production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per calendar day. Performance is anticipated between August 2026 and February 2027, with an estimated cost between $25,000,000 and $100,000,000. The location for performance is Newark Bay, New Jersey.
