Advance Notice: Maintenance Dredging of New York Harbor, Sandy Hook Federal Navigation Channel

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes maintenance dredging of the Sandy Hook Channel in New York Harbor, removing approximately 190,000 cubic yards of sand and gravel shoals to restore a depth of -35 feet MLLW plus 2 feet overdepth. Dredged material will be transported to the Sea Bright Offshore Borrow Area, 5 miles southeast of Sandy Hook Point, NJ. Work must commence within 5 calendar days of notice to proceed and be completed within 60 calendar days, with an integrated production rate of at least 8,000 cubic yards per day. The estimated cost ranges from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000, and performance will require a mechanical dredge with clamshell bucket, ocean-going barges, and tug boats. Liquidated damages of $3,260 per calendar day apply for delays.
