Maintenance Dredging at Haverstraw Bay, NY
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks a contractor for maintenance dredging of the Hudson River Federal Navigation Project at Haverstraw Bay, NY, involving removal of approximately 200,000 cubic yards of silt and clay. Dredged material must be transported to the Historic Area Remediation Site (HARS) in the Atlantic Ocean, about 60 miles away. Work requires a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket, plus hopper barges and tugboats, with all permits provided by the government. In-water dredging is restricted to between August 15 and October 31, and the contractor must begin work within five calendar days of the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages of $2,015 per calendar day apply for delays.
