Advance Notice: Maintenance Dredging of New York Harbor, Sandy Hook Federal Navigation Channel
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes maintenance dredging of the Sandy Hook Channel in New York Harbor, removing approximately 190,000 cubic yards of sand and gravel shoals to restore a depth of -35 feet MLLW plus 2 feet overdepth. Dredged material will be transported to the Sea Bright Offshore Borrow Area, 5 miles southeast of Sandy Hook Point, NJ. Work must be performed using a mechanical dredge with clamshell bucket, along with ocean-going barges, tug boats, and ancillary equipment, maintaining a production rate of at least 8,000 cubic yards per calendar day. The estimated budget is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The contractor must commence work within 5 calendar days of receiving the notice to proceed and complete all work within 60 calendar days.
