Presolicitation can be found using following link: https://www.fbo.gov/index.php?mode=form&id=8fabb48f27ef16af6e7f272e8acd8eb9&tab=ntype The purpose of the Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet (FIMI) Contract #3B2, Beachfill and Crossovers, Ocean Bay Park to Davis Park, Suffolk County, NY project is to provide protection to the mainland and barrier island by reducing the potential for breaching and overwash of the barrier island. Implementation of the initial construction will reinforce the existing dune and berm system along the island to help ensure the protection of property and natural resources before the next large storm event. Work will include: offshore dredging and beachfill (berm and dune) placement of approximately 1,500,000- 2,000,000 cubic yards of sand; demolishing up to 50 existing crossovers; construction of approximately 34 timber pedestrian crossovers, 6 ADA/ABA timber pedestrian crossovers, 3 gravel vehicular crossovers; installation of stair railings on approximately 44 additional pedestrian crossovers; and dune planting and fencing. Complexities include sandy soils, weather delays, environmental monitoring, obtaining necessary permits, timber pile removal and installation, limited vehicle access, bringing all supplies and removing all debris by water access (boat/barge) only, and coordination with multiple stakeholders. The solicitation will be an invitation for bid, awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. The estimated construction cost magnitude is between $25,000,000 and $100,000,000.
