Kansas City Levees UPRR Closure Structure
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires the construction of four flood closure structures (two stoplog and two sandbag) at two railroad bridges in Kansas City, Kansas. The work involves building associated floodwalls and fabricating all stoplog components, which must then be test-fitted across specific railroad tracks. Performance requires close coordination with the railroad for plan approvals and temporary track outages, and construction near the tracks will necessitate flagging operations. The contractor must also provide on-site storage structures for all stoplog components. The work location is on both the Armourdale and Central Industrial District levee units along the Kansas River.
