USACE Kansas City Distric intends to issue the solicitation for the longview slide repair on or about 19 February 2020. The work consists of repairing shallow slides located on the upper downstream and upstream slopes. Additional work also involves armoring the unprotected portion of the upper upstream slope. The lower third of the upstream slide was temporarily keyed in place using approximately 320 tons of shot rock in August 2019. Prior to start of work, the shot rock shall be removed. Disposal of rock shall be located on the project site in a defined stockpile area. The head scarp of both slides is located at approximately elevation 915 feet. The slide masses shall be removed to satisfactory embankment materials and the excavations will be backfilled and re-compacted with suitable soils. The backfill soil will be removed from a defined borrow area onsite. After repairing the slides, sand finger drains will be constructed on the upper downstream slope. The finger drains will be filtered at the upper portion of the lower slope. On the upper upstream slope, top soil will be stripped from the lower, unprotected half of the slope. Bedding and riprap shall be placed on the stripped slope and matched to the existing bedding and riprap. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
