The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is issuing this Request for Proposals to procure equipment to repower the electrical power plant on the Dredge HURLEY. The HURLEY is a 384-foot dustpan dredge that is classed by ABS. The HURLEY’s ABSID number is H-9302332. The existing powerplant on the HURLEY is composed of three (3) diesel generator sets. Each set consists of a General Electric model FD engine driving a General Electric model 5ATI generator through a line shaft. The electrical powerplant on the HURLEY was designed to power the vessel by running two (2) generators with the third on standby for emergency use. Due to recent upgrades to the vessel, all three (3) generators are required to be online to provide enough power to the vessel. The intention of the repower is to install three (3) new generator sets that will be able to run the powerplant as it was originally designed (running two (2) generators with the third on standby for emergency use). The Government intends to purchase high quality equipment that has been proven in similar marine applications. The new equipment will be provided as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) for future installation aboard the HURLEY, which is home ported in Memphis, Tennessee. The repowering will be performed at a commercial shipyard under a separate contract to be awarded at a later date. Equipment warranties and warranty agreements shall be set up for support in the Memphis, Tennessee area. The Contractor shall provide the following new equipment and services under this solicitation: • Three (3) Diesel Generator Sets • Auxiliary Cooling Equipment (see C09-on attached solicitation) • Exhaust Equipment (see C10 - on attached solicitation) • Factory acceptance testing (see E03 - on attached solicitation) • Installation and testing support (see E02 - on attached solicitation) • Final acceptance (see E09 - on attached solicitation) • Training (see E07 - on attached solicitation) The Government will make an award to one Contractor for all components and services.
