Amendment 0001 is to extend response due date from 17 May 2024 to 24 May 2024 1000am CDT. ------------------------- Mussel survey and relocation efforts. Fort Worth District has drafted a plan to mitigate channel erosion caused by flooding through bank stabilization in order to protect local, state, and federal interest for the Waco Treatment Facility, Texas. Proposed construction for this project is scheduled to start late spring or early summer of 2024. There is one state threatened (TAC 2020), federally proposed mussel species (USFWS 2021), Texas Fawnsfoot (Truncilla macrodon), that inhabit the middle Brazos River and the project area falls within the range of the proposed critical habitat A survey upstream of the Waco Treatment Facility by BioWest indicated that Texas Fawnsfoot are present near the project area (BioWest Personal Communication). USACE Worth Districts approach is to have surveys conducted for freshwater mussels at the construction sites along the streambanks and main channel of the Brazos River near the Waco Treatment Facility for relocation efforts with a focus on minimizing risk to Texas Fawnsfoot. Sampling activities will follow approved standardized protocols and will be coordinated with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
