The Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) has a requirement to procure four (4) each Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) analyzer systems. The EDXRF analyzers represent a new capability for the AOAP, which helps support safety of flight for Army aviation units. The AOAP will use the EDXRF systems to determine the chlorine content in parts per million (ppm) of aviation hydraulic fluids submitted to its laboratories for analysis. The appearance of chlorine in aviation hydraulic fluids indicates the presence of chlorinated solvents which are exceptionally corrosive and degrade gaskets, seals, metal hydraulic lines and other aircraft components to which they are exposed. Acquiring these systems is crucial to the AOAP maintaining its ability to provide actionable maintenance recommendations to Army aviation units worldwide.
