Thedesign is intended to improve the effectiveness of the collection system to maintain contaminated groundwaterplume capture and contaminant mass removal for the OU1/OU2 remedy. The work includes the followingmajor items:a. Install new extraction wells, associated appurtenances, and connect to existing system. New wells are numberedto coordinate with existing wells: EW-2a, EW-3a, EW 4a, EW-5a, EW-6b.b. Installation of three new rehabilitation wells at each new EW location (total of 15 wells) to allow for chemicalrehabilitation of the well and aquifer immediately surrounding the well.c. Installation of below grade electrical conduit within concrete ductbank from each new EW location back to thecontrol panel.d. Installation of above-ground weatherproof enclosures for each new extraction well piping and flow measurementequipment.e. Upgrade and replace existing manifold piping and appurtenances in below grade EW vaults (EW-1, EW-2, EW-3,EW-4, EW-5, EW-7, EW-8 and EW-9) with PVC materials (3 inch diameter).f. Replace all system flow meters with consistent make/model.g. Install pressure gauges on collection lines E and F in Valve Vaults 1, 2 and 3. There are no existing gauges in thevaults. No comm or power wiring for gauges is required.h. Install new standby back-up power generation and control for the new well extraction well network.i. Upgrade controls infrastructure to allow remote monitoring of the expanded well extraction well network.j. Complete monitoring well abandonment actions to optimize the existing well network.All pre-field planning documents to include the Accident Prevention Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Well InstallationPlan, Work Plan, Quality Control (QC) Plan, and Environmental Protection Plan must be approved by theContracting Officer before construction work begins.Please note that some well locations may require 72 hour prior notice before being granted access to the site.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District is seeking contractors for the Ott Story Construction, Dalton Township, MI The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District intends to issue an Invitation for Bid to Award a single firm fixed-price construction contract to provide for Environmental Remediation Services Construction project to implement system upgrade recommendations for the Ott Story Superfund Site Operable Unit #2 Groundwater Remedy in Muskegon (Dalton Township), Michigan. The scope includes the replacement of 5 existing extraction wells, installation of 15 new rehabilitation wells, and the abandonment of 48 existing monitoring wells, installation of above ground weatherproof enclosures for new extraction well piping and flow measurement equipment, upgrade and replacement of existing manifold piping and appurtenances in below grade extraction well vaults, replacement of system flow meters, installation of pressure gauges, install new emergency back-up power generator and control for the well network, upgrade of controls infrastructure to allow remote monitoring of the expanded well network, and abandonment of 36 monitoring wells. General Information: In accordance with FAR 36.204(f) the magnitude of construction is between $1 Million and $5 Million. This project is set aside for Full and Open Competition. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 237110, Water and Sewer Line and Related Structures Construction, which has a size standard of $45 Million in average annual receipts.
