The purpose of this acquisitions is to have a contractor create an interactive Soo Locks simulation experience for visitors replicating the original 1943 operating panel and incorporating two video screens and directional speakers. (The government will provide film footage, animation, and recordings. The Lock Operator Simulator Exhibit will be located at the Soo Locks Visitor Center in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. The Visitor Center receives approximately 400,000 visitors from Mid- May through Mid-October every year; many are children. Therefore, the components need to be easy to operate, durable, easy to clean and maintain, and aesthetically pleasing.
