The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, has a project at Union City Dam in French Creek, PA. The work includes construction of earthen potholes at the project site to improve habitat for wetland dependent wildlife. In general, the tasks required in the performance of this contract include: 1 Installation of four (4) wetland potholes as proposed in the work areas and as noted on the drawings. In general, the following work activities will need completed in construction of the wetland potholes: Install temporary erosion control measures as needed to include approximately 600 linear feet of silt sock down grade of the spoil areas. Remove topsoil and stockpile for reuse prior to constructing pothole wetlands. Construct four (4) wetland potholes meeting the requirements of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) hydrology, soils, and vegetation criteria for a wetland. All excavated spoils shall be resued onsite in locations identified as spoil area 1 and spoil area 2 on the plan view drawing. Create overflow areas for up slope pothole directing flow into down slope pothole. Directing flow from pothole number 1 to pothole number 2 and from pothole number 3 to pothole number 4. Redirect the existing ditch west of the parking lot into pothole number 3. Place and grade smooth all topsoil on all disturbed ground, inside the pothole wetland, and on top of the spoil areas upon completion of the work. Seed and mulch all disturbed areas adjacent to the wetland potholes and the spoil areas.
