CPE CBRND Seeking Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) on Aluminum Flakes for Screening Obscuration Module - Multispectral (SOM-M)
The U.S. Government is issuing this RFI solely for information and planning to identify alternative, cost-effective commercial manufacturing options for a novel bispectral obscurant material in support of the Screening Obscuration Module - Multispectral (SOM-M) program and to assess readiness for a potential Army-funded manufacturing maturation project. It is not an RFP and does not commit the government to contract for any supply or service. The focus is on high-volume Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) onto aluminum flakes sized 2–4 microns, scalable from hundreds of pounds to tons while significantly reducing current manufacturing costs. Interested parties should submit a white paper detailing manufacturing/production approach, cost projections and scale-up, facility maturity/capacity/risks, and relevant company experience. Responses must be electronic, no longer than five pages, and include company information, business type, CAGE Code, and an authorized point of contact.
