The JPD CD&MA office seeks to improve the current M8 Chemical Detection Paper, including the manufacturing process. The current M8 detector is used to support troops in identifying CWA liquid contamination. M8 paper must be able to reproducibly detect and classify liquid chemical agent contamination. It is desirable to refine the manufacturing process to produce a higher-quality chemical detector paper without impacting the current price per unit. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have a manufacturing process that would allow for the incorporation of additional dyes in the future for newly identified liquid threats. The JPD CD&MA office is requesting additional information from parties with potential solutions describing their ability to manufacture chemical detection paper with the current M8 dye formulation and how new formulations could be accommodated.
