The Joint Project Manager - Protection (JPM-P) has a requirement to procure M61 canisters for the Joint Service General Purpose Mask (JSGPM). It requires the delivery of fully functional and operational M61 canisters. This contract is for work efforts required to produce and improve M61 canisters for the JSGPM. The M61 canisters are spare parts for the JSGPM chemical biological respiratory protective mask that provides above-the-neck, head, ocular and respiratory protection against known chemical and biological agents, toxic industrial materials, and radioactive particles as well as emerging chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) threats. The objective of this effort is to procure the M61 canisters for the JSGPM, to establish a means to obtain spare M61 canisters for the JSGPM, and provide rapid and affordable technology insertion and refreshment of the M61 canisters. It requires the delivery of fully functional and operational M61 canisters. The planned soliciation will be released with the intent to satisfy work efforts required to produce M61 canisters for the M50/M51 mask systems and will also include provisions for product improvement efforts to the canisters.
