To ensure that the fire extinguishers are available and operate properly when needed. The contractor will make sure that the fire extinguishers are up to standard according to Federal and State regulations, and NFPA 10. There are two types of fire extinguishers: 1) Halon and Co2 can be inspected and refilled/recharged but cannot be serviced with non-Army parts; 2) all other fire extinguishers can be inspected, maintained/repaired, refilled/recharged, and tested. The contractor is expected to provide inspection, maintenance/repair, refill/recharge, and testing for all fire extinguishers utilized by DOTS and all MCoE Brigades for facilities and vehicles per Army Regulation. The contractor is expected to service and or replace the extinguishers if the regulation warrants. Contractor shall furnish all supervision, licensed personnel, equipment, tools, labor, material, parts, transportation, and waste disposal necessary to perform the required work for approximately 1,945 fire extinguishers. Not all fire extinguishers from DOTS and MCoE Bdes will be serviced at a single time. The types of extinguishers requiring servicing include, but are not limited to Halons (1301, HFC128/227, FM 200), Co2, and Dry Chemical in sizes ranging from 2.5 pounds up to 34 pounds. MCoE Bdes have various types of buildings which will require Multipurpose Dry Chemical fire extinguishers such as Class A, B, and C. Extinguisher components requiring servicing and repair shall include, but is not limited to, O-ring, valve stems, gauges, hose bands and clips, pull pin, nozzles, or as deemed necessary, all other fire extinguisher components. Type 1 fire extinguishers (Halon, and or Co2) will be returned to the customer if they do not pass inspection IAW Army regulation and will be replaced through the Army supply system. Type 2 fire extinguisher will be repaired or replaced by the contractor if it can’t be recharged or is damaged. Fire Extinguishers will be collected at the Kelley Hill Motor Pool, Building 9115. The vendor will come onto post and or we will drive to vendors location. The vendor needs to be able to service, repair, recharge, and maintain all fire extinguishers for the MCoE both Halon and Dry Bottles (NINs 01-491-9279; 01-179-1059; 00-555-8837; 01-0488646; 01-568-6926; 01-605-5218; 01-391-0784; 01-463-0807; 01-503-1522; 01-5659982; 01-566-2417; 01-388-7854; 01-149-1356; 01-481-3875). The contractor must be able to gain access onto Fort Benning, GA to pick up and/or deliver the various types or fire extinguishers.
