C0255 Black Wool Melton Fabric The Government requires the procurement of Black Wool Melton Fabric, identified under USMA Local Stock Number C0255, for use in the manufacture and repair of uniform overcoats and other institutional garments. This textile shall be dense, tightly woven, heavily fulled wool fabric with a smooth, napped finish on one side and shall be solid black in color, colorfast, and resistant to fading under normal wear conditions. The fabric shall have a minimum width of 58-60 inches and a weight of approximately 30-32 ounces per linear yard. It must meet applicable standards for durability, pilling resistance, thermal insulation, and abrasion resistance, a suitable for cold- weather military applications. The material shall be 100% wool or an approved wool blend and must comply with the Berry Amendment (10 U.S.C. 4862), requiring domestic sourcing and manufacturing.
