Fernico is the sole provider of the Cortexflo System. Best practice is to obtain photographs, 72 hours post assault, to capture bruising or patterned injuries of strangulation. These follow up exams are done in the clinic setting with a SACP (sexual assault care provider). It is vital to have a camera available to those providers for follow up photography to document the method of assault. If we do not have this capability then the government would not be able to meet the industry standards and evidence could be comprised when it comes to court proceedings. By not having this capability, the evidence could be inadmissible in court and prevent successful prosecution of these assault cases.
