Alternative Protein Technologies for Military Field Feeding
DEVCOM Soldier Center is seeking potential sources for innovative alternative-protein product development, consumer research, and/or demonstration food samples for military rations, with work targeting TRL 4–6 and excluding cell-cultured/lab-grown meat and insect protein. Areas of interest include fermentation, precision fermentation, or other novel biomanufacturing for lightweight nutrient-dense ration solutions; meat-alternative products meeting military nutrition, shelf-stability, and palatability requirements; consumer acceptability research; and an optional demonstration of 100 GRAS-status samples with an FDA no-questions letter. Responses are limited to Massachusetts-based offerors as determined by CAGE code. Interested parties should submit BAA preproposals describing their technical approach, relevant past performance, and a rough order of magnitude cost estimate, along with business size/socioeconomic status, NAICS code, and CAGE code. This is a sources-sought announcement for market research only, not a solicitation; no contract will be awarded, funding is not currently available, and costs are not reimbursable.
