The US Army Product Manager for Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-SCIE) is conducting market research in order to identify sports bras that will provide female Soldiers with comfortable and supportive bras during high impact physical fitness training and activities. This Request for Information (RFI) is solely for information gathering and planning purposes and does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals, nor will it directly lead to any contract awards. The following sections of this announcement contain the details of the Government’s interest as well as instructions for the submission of responses. The intent is to narrow down specific retail athletic bra styles that each vendor can provide to the US Army for possible purchase. The following features have high interest for all bra designs: • High impact support through design and material, including latest advances (e.g. whole garment construction, e-materials incorporated in cup construction for extra movement support) • No wires, seams or trim that may cause chafing • Laboratory certification, if any (i.e. University of Portsmouth England Research Group in Breast Health) (See attached bra size grouping chart) Group 1 (smaller) bra sizes: • High impact support compression style • Pullover style with incorporated structured seaming • Racer back • Regular width of under bust band and shoulder straps Group 2 bra (medium) sizes: • High impact support encapsulation style • Pullover style with structured seaming (front closure acceptable with encapsulation) • Racer back • Regular width of under bust band and shoulder straps Group 3 (larger) bra sizes: • High impact support encapsulation style • Pullover style with structured seaming (front closure acceptable with encapsulation) • Racer back • Increased width of under bust band and shoulder straps with adjustability Samples of recommended bras are hereby requested and shall be sent to the address below.
