Objective: To find sources that are qualified to meet the supplies/services as listed in section 11B. Note that the specific requirements in section C are subject to change prior to the release of any solicitation. B. The Government requires a quantity of one (1) molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) compatible Ion beam source required for growth of cubic boron nitride in accordance with the following specifications: The contractor shall provide an Ion Beam source compatible with a Gen-II ultra-high vacuum (UHV) molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system; in particular, the unit must be mounted on a 4.5 inch (”) ConFlat (CF) flange; The contractor shall provide a unit that is compatible with Nitrogen (N2) and argon (Ar) source gases at flow rates up to 10 standard cubic centimeters per minute (sccm); The contractor shall provide a unit that generates a plasma at a radio frequency (RF) forward operating power of up to 500 watts (W) with auto-tuning capability; The contractor shall provide a unit that produces ions with energies up to 400 electron volts (eV) via accelerating grids; The contractor shall provide a unit that produces an ion current density of greater than 0.03 mA/cm2 milliamperes per square centimeter (mA/cm2).
