CCDC ARL WMRD currently has one (1) Zeiss Xradia 520 X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) scanner for fundamental materials research supporting a number of Army Mission Programs, Essential Research Programs, and external customer programs. The proprietary OptiRecon software allows for iterative reconstruction of XCT datasets, generating higher quality data within the same timeframe or up to four (4) times faster results at a similar quality level. This will allow high throughput XCT scanning or more time-intensive research such as XCT scans during in-situ mechanical testing. The OptiRecon software is only compatible with the 500 and 600 series of Zeiss X-ray microscopes, therefore the software package must come from Carl Ziess Microscopy.
