The Alaska Building (single story, 18,429 gross square feet) demolition project consists of the demolition of the Alaska Building and selective demolition of piping for water Fire protection and fuel lines in the Power House building adjacent to the Alaska Building, on NOAA grounds near Fox, Alaska. Demolition includes building, foundation, and utilities. The site shall be level and finished graded at completion. Utilidors exist beneath the building and contain communications wiring and other components which shall be demolished. This includes electrical demolition of power distribution panels located throughout the building, indoor transformers, and the extension of existing lighting circuits through portions of remaining utilidors. Work includes minor construction of new end walls to cap the ends of demolished utilidors. The utilidor shall remain active beyond the demolished building includes demolition of air handling units and associated systems and ducting; demolition of water pumps and associated system; demolition of a reverse osmosis system and associated equipment; demolition of chillers and associated systems; and demolition of fuel line supply and return piping. Includes extension of headbolt outlet (HBO) circuits from existing demolished panels to new panels in remaining adjacent building. The demolition includes the waste water treatment system vault. Hazardous materials abatement will occur; expect asbestos, PCB’s, lead containing paint, glycol, fuel, and refrigerant as part the performance of the award. Only the abatement necessary for demolition of the building will be conducted. The work will include verifying the remaining building is environmentally compliant to dispose in a permitted landfill.
