Equipment shall be mounted on rubber tires and shall be capable of removing markings from the pavement without damaging the pavement surface or joint sealant. Shotblasting equipment shall be capable of producing an adjustable depth of removal of marking and pavement. Each unit shall be self-cleaning and self-contained, shall be able to confine dust and debris from the operation. The water pressure shall be specified at 17.9MPa (2,600 psi) at 60 degrees C (140 degrees) F in order to adequately clean the surfaces to be marked. Remove 80 % of existing paint thickness to protect concrete slab surfaces. No other removal method will be allowed.
