The Government intends to purchase wearable Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) system to measure in real-time ceberal and muscle tissue oxygen. The components shall include: tissue oximeter, wearable sensors, auxillarly input/output interface system for data logging and analog output. USARIEM is focused in understanding how oxygen utilization of the brain and exercising muscle are affected by exposure to high altitude. Our research is focusing on identifying counter-measures that may improve oxygen transport which would help to minimize high-altitude sickness and decrements in an individuals ability to exercise in such conditions. NIRS system provides a means to assess ceberal and muscle tissue oxygenation and how it may be impacted from various counter-measures. As such the Government wishes to identify a vendor who can supply a system with specific requirements that meet our research needs. See attachment for the entire combined synopsis/solicitation.
