The Medical Readiness Contracting Office - Pacific, in support of Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Hawaii, intends to make a sole source award to Livanova for the urgent purchase of one (1) Sentiva Generator Model 1000 for the Department of Surgery at TAMC, Hawaii. The physician requesting the supplies has verified the need for this brand name product to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient. Therefore, the surgical implant(s) are the only ones that can meet the Government's current need. Livanova is the manufacturer and sole provider of these surgical implants. The authority permitting this award without providing full and open competition is cited in FAR 13-106-1(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one source reasonably available (e.g. urgency, exclusive licensing agreement, brand name or industrial mobilization).
