The Regional Health Contracting Office – Pacific, in support of Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Hawaii, intends to make a sole source award to Sirtex Medical, Inc. for the purchase of SIR-Spheres Yttrium 90 (Y90) Resin Microspheres. These supplies are the only ones that can meet the Government’s need. Sirtex Medical, Inc. is the sole provider of this SIR-Spheres Yttrium 90 (Y90) Resin Microspheres for patients diagnosed with metastatic colorectal and hepatocellular carcinomas. The authority permitting this award without providing full and open competition is cited in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one source available (e.g. urgency, exclusive licensing agreement, brand name or industrial mobilization).
