The Regional Health Contracting Office – Pacific at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii intends to award a sole source contract to Cochlear Americas for BAHA 5 Sound Processors. This implants are patient specific and surgery is scheduled for March/April 2020. Cochlear Americas is the sole provider of this implant. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing for full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 1901, as cited in FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement.
