The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center-Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) Sustainable Construction Materials – Timber Team needs to acquire a scientific laboratory grade, climate-controlled conditioning chamber for timber experiments, custom made to a 20 ft. capacity. The experiments to be performed will include environmental conditioning of innovative materials, paints and coatings, batteries, and robotics on samples, many of which are too large to fit in standard sizes of chambers that are traditionally available. Darwin Chambers Co LLC has been identified as the only source that can meet the need of the Government for this procurement. Darwin Chambers is the only climate-controlled environmental chamber supplier found who offers a portable, 20 ft shipping container model. Therefore ERDC-CERL intends to award a sole source contract to Darwin Chambers Co LLC in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). This is not a request for proposal and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. Any interested party that believes they can fulfill this requirement should submit a capability statement to be reviewed. All submissions will be considered, however there is no guarantee that submissions in response to this notice will in any way alter the Government’s acquisition strategy.
