SYSTEM FOR AWARD MANAGEMENT (SAM) SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE The purpose of the Sources Sought Notice/Sources Sought Announcement (SSA) is to determine which capable business can perform the requirements of a planned contract. In addition, the request will focus on which small business industry partners can capably provide support. The customer/procurement coordinator will request information through the contracting activity to make a capabilities assessment. The capability assessment is determined by the DEVCOM technical reviewer(s) that a business is either “capable” or “not capable” of performing the requirements that will be forthcoming in the solicitation. The information required below is only a starting point. A second goal of the SSA is to provide answers to questions raised at the Pre-CASS for which the Government does not know the answer. Take note of any Pre-CASS concerns where industry feedback is needed to move a procurement forward and be sure to include those concerns in the SSA. The results of the sources sought announcement should be provided to your DEVCOM engineer for a capability review. The capability review and other pertinent information will be memorialized in the market research report (summarizing the SSA efforts, discussions and information gathering from the Pre-CASS period) and provided with the IGE and Pre-CASS documentation as the “initial ARP submission” to the contracting center. The SSA and all responses are attachments to the Market Research report.
