CCRC-AC 13 March 2019 SUBJECT: Request for Information for M26 Joint Service Transportable Decontamination System - Small Scale (JSTDS-SS) Engine Replacement 1. Intent: This is for information purposes only which may be used for planning purposes and should not be construed as a Request for Quote or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited. The U.S. Army Contracting Command - Rock Island (ACC-RI) will only utilize the information you provide in developing its acquisition approach for future requirements. This is NOT a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought notice only. The purpose of this is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classifications. Please respond using the attached Capability Statements. ACC-RI is seeking sources only. ACC-RI intends to consider all comments when developing its finalized acquisition strategy and resulting solicitation(s). 2. Purpose: To obtain information on commercial industry capability to satisfy U.S. Army requirements for replacement engine for the M26 Joint Services Transportable Decontamination System - Small Scale (JSTDS-SS). 3. Product Description: The M26 JSTDS-SS is employed to perform operational and support thorough decontamination operation, buy may also be used for clearance missions. Clearance missions are defined as missions that provide the decontamination of equipment and personnel to a level that allows unrestricted transportation, maintenance, employment, and disposal. M26 JSTD-SS, Engine Replacement. The M26 JSTDS-SS is a small scale decontamination system that is powered by a 12 volt diesel engine manufactured by Farymann, model 15B 437 0 115 M5 which is now obsolete. The engine shall be powered by diesel and capable of using military grade fuels such as Jp-8/JP-4. The engine shall have a max RPM of 3600 or the ability to be limited to 3600 RPM. The engine RPM shall be adjustable by a manual throttle. The engine shall have a rotation direction of clockwise viewed from the powertake-off shaft. ? The engine shall be vertical cylinder. The engine shall be air cooled. The engine shall have a minimum horsepower of 6.4. The engine shall have a dry weight (engine, air intake filter, and exhaust silencer)less than 123 pounds. ? The engine shall be compatible with 12V power supply. ? The engine shall have an electronic starter and backup hand crank/pull rope with compression relief. The engine shall fit within an approximate size envelope of 13x15x18 in(Lx1WxH). The current engine size is 12.2x14.6x17.7 in (LxWxH). 4.
