This Purchase Description represents the purchase of 2 forging hammers and auxiliary equipment. The contractor shall provide and install the Forging Hammers and auxiliary equipment as a “turnkey” operation, where all actions are the responsibility of the contractor unless specifically stated otherwise in this Purchase Description. One of the hammers shall be rated for a blow energy of at least 58,000 lbs. ft. (80 kJ) and the other of at least 23,000 lbs. ft. (31.5 kJ). The required machines are comprised of a frame, ram, an anvil insert and piston rod, a drive mechanism, a filter/chiller circuit, a foot switch, and a programmable controller. The Forging Hammers shall be installed at the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (JMTC) of Rock Island Arsenal. Complete details will be released with the solicitation.
