The electric vehicle will be used for transporting material... MINIMUM SPECIFICATION FOR A ELECTRIC-POWERED VEHICLE 1. The Electric Vehicle shall be a four wheeled vehicle fully electric-power driven. 2. The electric vehicle will be used for transporting material and not more than two personnel from shop area to satellite work areas. The vehicle will be used in all types of weather both inside and outside enclosed industrial buildings for pick-ups and drop-offs. 3. Requirements A. Configuration: The electric vehicle shall be a two door vehicle with fully enclosed fiberglass cab with auto safety glass windshield and rear panel and a utility bed with a full length aluminum cap. The cab shall have rollup and down windows with locking doors. The vehicle shall be constructed with an aluminum chassis such that it is corrosion resistant and fully sealed. Vehicle shall have steel bumpers front and rear. The vehicle shall be licensable as a low speed vehicle (LSV) making it street legal on roads 35 mph or less. B. Dimensions: The electric vehicle shall not exceed 160” long and shall not be wider than 64” or greater than 78’ high. The vehicle shall have a minimum of 8” ground clearance. The utility bed shall have a minimum of 66” long by 58” wide usable space. C. Motor: The electric vehicle shall employ a minimum of a 72 volt high-efficiency, AC induction motor capable of 35 horsepower as a minimum. D. Travel/Speed: The electric vehicle shall be capable of powered travel both forward and reverse. Travel direction shall be controlled by a lever or switch. Electric vehicle shall be capable of speeds up to a minimum of 25 mph. E. Steering: The electric vehicle shall be equipped with rack-and –pinion type steering and shall include adjustable tilt steering to accommodate different drivers. F. Brakes: The electric vehicle shall be equipped with four wheel hydraulic disc brakes to provide smooth reliable braking with minimal effort. The braking system shall employ non-asbestos brake linings. The parking brake shall be a manual hand operated lever. G. Tires & Wheels: The electric vehicle shall be equipped with pneumatic tires for outdoor all season use. H. Accessories: The electric vehicle shall be equipped with a minimum of the following accessories: - Dash Kit with instrumentation such as speedometer, hour meter battery charge/discharge indicator as a minimum. - DC Heater/defrost assembly - Windshield wipers - Lights – The vehicle shall be equipped with LED high/low headlights, tail and stop/brake lights, turn signals and back up lights and amber warning strobe as a minimum. - Rear and side view mirrors. - Backup camera. - Sun visors. I. Electrical System: The electrical system shall be 72 Volt DC minimum. - All power and control circuits shall be fuse protected. - All wiring shall be color coded for ease of service. J. Battery: The electric vehicle shall be equipped with a minimum of a 72 Volt electrical system with a minimum of 100 Amp/hour rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and battery warmers for cold weather operation with a minimum of full 1 year warranty. Charging shall be accomplished via standard 120 VAC power cord. 4. Safety: The electric vehicle shall meet all applicable requirements of ANSI B56.1 1969-1988 Safety Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks and Underwriters Laboratories. Safety features to be included are as follows: A. The vehicle cab shall be equipped with retractable seat belt and hip restraints. B. The vehicle shall be equipped with an electric horn. C. The vehicle shall have an amber strobe light with light guard. D. The vehicle shall have a backup alarm. 5. Operator's Manual, Parts Manual, Maintenance Manual and Electrical Drawings shall be included. 6. Inspection: Inspection shall be performed at Tobyhanna Army Depot to ensure that vehicle complies with requirements of this specification. 7. Warranty: The electric vehicle and its accessories furnished under this specification shall be warranted for a minimum of 1 year from the date of delivery. Warranty shall include all parts, labor, and accessories.
