This is a Request for Information (RFI) for market research, not a solicitation, to identify domestic sheet metal manufacturers capable of producing steel ammunition containers using agile manufacturing methods. The work supports the 6.8mm ammunition packaging effort, aiming to reduce lead times for prototypes and low-rate production. The performance location is associated with the DEVCOM Armaments Center in Picatinny, NJ. The government seeks capabilities to fabricate approximately 50 total prototypes of 3 to 5 designs by June 2026 and about 100 final prototypes by January 2027, followed by a production capacity of roughly 10,000 containers per month with first delivery due in the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2027. All units must achieve a specific pressure seal, and minor design changes to accommodate novel processes are possible.
