PURPOSE: The Army Contracting Command – New Jersey (ACC-NJ), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is conducting a market survey on behalf of Project Director Tactical Artillery Systems (PD TAS) to identify potential benefits and limitations of soft recoil technologies when applied to 105mm howitzer weapon systems. DESCRIPTION: This Sources Sought Notice is issued solely for information and planning purposes as a means for the Government to conduct market research, identifying interested parties, and capabilities to support the Government’s interest in investigating soft recoil technologies on a 105mm weapon system. This Sources Sought Notice is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of PD TAS. The Government is interested in exploring soft recoil system technologies and applications to the 105mm caliber weapon systems. The Government is looking to identify soft recoil technology maturity level, the ability to integrate different cannon assemblies, and assess the level at which these technologies can be applied to different system architectures. The Government is also interested in the reliability and manufacturability of current soft recoil technologies. The Government is interested in the following high level physical and performance characteristics for the presented concepts/capabilities: 1) Maximum Impulse capability 2) Maximum Run up velocity capability 3) Total Impulse reduction being applied to weapon. 4) Recoil Pressure 5) Recoil Distance (at Max Impulse) 6) Tipping parts weight 7) Recoiling parts weight 8) Maximum Overall System weight All interested vendors are requested to provide the following in responses: Description of (inclusive of above characteristics) of your firm’s system, development history, and tested parameters of the system. Rough Order Magnitude Cost of system identified. Rough Order Magnitude Schedule of system identified. Notional Developmental Risk / Product Maturity of system identified. Life Cycle Status [i.e. Conceptual, Prototype, In-Service (If In-Service, please include customers utilizing system.)] Firms/companies are invited to indicate their capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration videos, identification of current customers and/or other technical data. This market survey is a Sources Sought Notice ONLY and SHOULD NOT be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a commitment by the United States Government. The Government recognizes that proprietary and/or classified data may be a part of this effort. If so, clearly mark such restricted/proprietary and classified data and present them as an addendum to the nonrestricted/non-proprietary and unclassified information. Participation in this Sources Sought Notice is completely voluntary by the vendor, and as such, all costs to develop the vendor’s response are to be borne by the participating vendor. All interested sources are encouraged to submit their abilities/capabilities no later than Friday, 21 JUNE 2024 1700 EASTERN to the below identified points of contact.
