Statement of Work High-power Illumination Source for Explosive Events 1.0 Introduction/Background The government seeks a small form-factor, spoiled coherence, high-power illumination device for ultra and high-speed cameras to observe explosive events. The timing needs to be precise (within the nanosecond scale) having easy integration into current camera systems, and the light intensity (equated to power) needs to be high in order to overpower light emission from an explosive event. This can be achieved by using laser source with hundreds of Watts of output power, in conjunction with a bandpass filter. Time duration of the light source needs to be flexible for pulsing, or continuous output, up to tens of microseconds. 2.0 Scope/Initiative Objective The project would consist of the purchase of a small form-factor, spoiled coherence, and high-intensity laser system to be used for illumination of explosive events.
