This requirement is for the procurement of one Black 2019 Chevrolet 3500 Series Suburban Heavy Duty (HD) Commercially-Procured Heavy Armored Vehicle (CHAV). This CHAV is specifically designed for the requiring unit’s congressionally authorized protection of Secretary of Defense designated DoD High-Risk Personnel (HRP), and designated visiting foreign dignitaries, in accordance with DoD HRP and Antiterrorism policy. The vehicle must be armored using dual hard steel, with other specialized/customized equipment and delivered as specified in the corresponding Performance Work Statement (PWS). The heavy duty 3500 series Suburban was specifically designed to safely and effectively support the weight of the heavy armor and additional mission load. Fully armored vehicle curb weight must not exceed 11,100 pounds. The walls, floor, ceiling, and doors of the Chevrolet Suburban HD CHAVs will be designed with heavy steel to combat body rust, corrosion and to increase bullet resistance. In order to meet the requirements for safety and security, the windows of the Chevrolet Suburban HD CHAV shall be made up of several layers of automotive glass and bullet-resistant optical plastic and shall meet all the other requirements and specifications of the PWS.
