The U.S. Army Contracting Command (ACC) - New Jersey, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, on behalf of the Office of the Product Manager Precision Fire and Mortars (PdM PFM) / Product Manager Combat Ammunition Systems (PM CAS) intends to solicit and negotiate a commercial, sole source, firm fixed price contract with L3 Fuzing and Ordnance Systems, Inc., Cincinnati, OH 45245 for the Melody II Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Chips with GPS Receiver applications compatible with Precision Guided Kit (PGK). This sole source contract is intended to be issued using 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1- Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The Melody II ASIC is the main integrated circuit customized specifically for Precision Guidance Kit (M1156) Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver. L3-IEC currently procures the Melody II ASIC Chip under the Trusted Foundry Program from Global Foundries directly. L3-IEC then customizes the ASIC with their proprietary application specific to the PGK GPS receiver. This planned contract includes all efforts required to inspect and deliver up to 200,000 Melody II ASIC Chips. The anticipated award date for this acquisition is Fourth Quarter Fiscal Year 2019, (4QFY19). The period of performance shall be from date of award through 30 June 2020.
