Unidirectional Flushing will consist of locating, inspecting, assessing, and operating distribution sytem valves and hydrants, recording water flowed and creating a deliverable GIS format compatible with Aberdeen Proving Grounds' existing GIS/Database system. Execute minor repairs to valves and/or hydrants according to Government directions. Fire hydrants shall be inspected for appearance, accessibility, leakage, and functionality in accordance with AWWA M-17 manual, NFPA 291 and the Installation Safety Office requirements. The main line valives shall be inspected for accessibility and functionality in accordance with AWWA M-44 manual. Backflow Prevention Devices (BFPD) shall be inspected for evidence of dripping and leaking to protect the drinking water supply. The BFPDs shall be inspected and tested annuallly as well as certified to ensure the device is operational and entered into an authorized Cross Connection Control Management Program. The contractor will be required to perform annual maintenance and repairs on the BFPDs. Devices that have failed shall be repaired and retested at date and time of original scheduled testing event. A list of devices will be given at the time of award.
